/summary
For the first-ever FIFA World Cup held in Central Asia, we provided sports presentation flyaway kits and a technical crew to the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) for the FIFA Futsal World Cup. The tournament took place across Tashkent, Andijan, and Bukhara, with the final held in the capital. Brazil emerged as champions, while hosts Uzbekistan exited in the group stage.

/services
We worked closely with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to conduct site surveys and guide them in selecting long-term equipment investments. Our production units, deployed at each venue, featured VT, vision mixing, and recording capabilities. Riedel Bolero comms were integrated into all venues, with a centralised connection in Tashkent for the final, in collaboration with the ceremonies team. Additionally, we provided cameras to enhance fan engagement, scaling up for the final. All equipment was transported from our engineering base in the UK.
/highlights
Working in Uzbekistan offered a rare chance to explore a country seldom visited by tourists, allowing us to immerse ourselves in its rich culture. Building strong relationships with Uzbek crew and talent was a rewarding experience, fostering valuable international collaboration. Additionally, delivering production for futsal—an entirely new sport for us—was an exciting challenge that broadened our expertise.
/challenges
The language barrier proved to be a hurdle, as limited Russian speakers in our team made communication more difficult. Technically, adapting to local infrastructure required flexibility, as power inconsistencies and delays meant we often had to guide venue suppliers through best practices. Logistically, Uzbekistan’s vast geography and limited transport options made moving equipment between venues complex, requiring long-distance road transport.
/learnings
Navigating Central Asia relies heavily on strong local connections—we worked with an Uzbek shipping company to expedite freight from the UK. A deeper understanding of Russian would have improved communication and efficiency. This experience reinforced the importance of adaptability when working in regions with different technical and logistical standards.
