/summary
UK indie band Kawala created a Mighty Boosh-esque sitcom during the pandemic when they couldn't tour. The event was shot as live before being taken into the edit and delivered to social media. Two series aired on the band’s YouTube channel, with all members of the band taking on multiple roles.

/services
We shot the series using a multicam setup with cinematic cameras and lenses. An ISO recording system was implemented to streamline the editing workflow. Our production team provided and managed the lighting, ensuring a professional and consistent look. We also delivered a full comms and sound solution. For the first series, we provided the director, who worked seamlessly with the band to bring their creative vision to life.
/highlights
This was a fantastic project to work on during the pandemic when traditional live sports had come to a halt. Collaborating directly with the band was a great experience, as they brought real creative flair to the production. It was also our first opportunity to work on scripted content, which made it an exciting and refreshing challenge.
/challenges
The production schedule was intense, requiring long days to maximise content output. Working in a studio setting posed spatial constraints, which had to be carefully managed. Additionally, many scenes had to be executed in a single take, adding pressure to the production process.
/learnings
This project demonstrated that live broadcast equipment and workflows can be effectively adapted to scripted content production. The experience highlighted how these tools can enhance efficiency and introduce new, effective working methods in narrative filmmaking.
