/summary
Kirkley & Pakefield FC compete in the ninth tier of English football, playing in the Eastern Counties Premier Division at Walmer Road, Suffolk. As proud sponsors of the club, our logo features on the team’s away shirts. We also provide match filming as a remote production, collaborating with a local college for camera operators and Ravensbourne University to supply matchday operators who manage live graphics through our production pods.

/services

Our coverage includes a single-camera setup operated by a student from Great Yarmouth College. The feed is transmitted back to our remote production hub in York via an encoder installed at the club. A remote matchday operator oversees the broadcast, adding graphics, producing highlight reels, and creating social media clips in real time. This setup not only delivers quality coverage for the club but also provides hands-on training opportunities for students.

/highlights
This project represents a unique partnership between a football club, a college, and a university, creating a legacy initiative that offers real-world broadcast experience. By operating in an area underserved by the UK film and TV industry, we’re helping to develop talent while also gaining insight into the club’s inner workings.
/challenges
Non-league football is largely volunteer-run, meaning that additional support isn’t always available, requiring us to take on extra responsibilities to ensure smooth operations. Working with students, while rewarding, comes with challenges, as many have academic and lifestyle commitments and may lack the professionalism of experienced broadcast operators. Additionally, we received a warning from the FA about live streaming, as it conflicted with the 3 PM blackout rule.
/learnings
Non-league football offers a fantastic training ground for aspiring broadcast professionals, providing valuable hands-on experience. This project has also demonstrated how football coverage can be delivered in a highly efficient, cost-effective manner, making live production more accessible for lower-tier clubs.
